The article talks about when rock and roll started in the fifties and how it affected society. It does this by showing how it affected teenagers, adults, and even the civil rights movement. It effects these by showing people they don't need to do what people want them to, because in the fifties people thought rock and roll was evil and if you listened to it then you were evil. Therefore by listening to rock and roll you were exercising your freedom.
What qualifies this article is that it is mostly a history article and it was published in History Today. Also the author was alive in the time period of the article so a lot of this is first hand experiences.
